Here are the finals - and the hosts celebrate seven finalists |

The host nation to the European Championships, Germany, celebrates seven players being qualified for the finals in Krefeld for the 1st European Masters Individual Championships 2009. The finals will be played tomorrow, followed up by the victory and closing ceremony, bringing to an end the first edition of such tournament. And what a tournament it was...
Simone Korell (Women o40) and Stefan Leifels (Men o35) amongst the other finalists surely were the most wanted and expected ones in the finals as far as Germany is concerned. And the fans will back them tomorrow.

Stefan Leifels (1, Men o35) reached the final beating Stephen Cooke (NED) 6:11, 12:10, 11:5 and 11:8. He will play Mirko Pareccini (ITA, 3/4) in the final.
Simone Korell (2, Women o40) will face Samantha Willis (1, ENG) in the final. Willis and Korell remained unbeaten when moving to the final, Korell winning three matches in Pool B and Willis four matches in Pool A.
Other finalists from Germany are Selma Boztepe (Women o45), Predi Fritsche (Men o40), Udo Kahl (Men o50), and Hans-Jürgen Scepanik (Men o65), not to forget Josef Lampey (Men o70).

The Organisers of the 1st European Masters Individual Championships would like to announce that the ESF has agreed to allocate European Champions titles also in the Women o60 and Men o70 categories. |

First participants reach Krefeld - England and Finland arrived for the Championships |

She was the first to arrive in the Turnhalle in Krefeld for the Championships: Bett Dryhurst (ENG, Women o60) came to the tournament office in the early morning. Obviously she could not wait for the official opening of the venue of the 1st European Masters Individual Championships. Her opponent Ingrid Keuntje (GER, Women o60) arrived a little bit later, now they are plying a sparring match to warm up. As it seems they could open the EMIC right now.

Team Finland with 12 persons arrived at 09:05 hrs at the airport being the first delegation flying in from Helsinki. They cover all of the age categories for men if not the o70 and form one of the largst delegations from foreign countries. They will find temperatures in the venue like in the sauna...
